Author Guidelines

ALBISTA: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat

Authors are required to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the official template and author guidelines of ALBISTA: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal format, focus and scope, or technical requirements may be returned to the authors before entering the peer-review process.

1. General Requirements

ALBISTA publishes original articles reporting community service, community empowerment, mentoring, training, social intervention, application of science and technology, and other forms of community engagement relevant to the journal's focus and scope.

  • The manuscript must be original and has not been previously published.
  • The manuscript must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  • The manuscript must use the official ALBISTA article template.
  • The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The manuscript may be written in Indonesian or English using appropriate academic language.
  • Foreign terms that have not been absorbed into Indonesian should be written in italic.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of language, data, citations, and references.
  • The manuscript should be carefully proofread before submission.

2. Manuscript Format

Important: Authors must not modify the journal header, footer, page layout, margins, or predefined formatting contained in the official ALBISTA template.

3. Article Title

The title must be clear, concise, informative, and accurately represent the content of the community service activity.

  • Maximum length: 14 words.
  • Font: Times New Roman.
  • Size: 15 pt.
  • Bold.
  • Center aligned.
  • Spacing after: 12 pt.
  • Avoid unnecessary abbreviations.

4. Author Names and Affiliations

Author names must be written clearly without academic degrees, professional titles, or positions. Affiliations should include department or study program, faculty where applicable, institution, city, and country.

The symbol * indicates the corresponding author.

5. Abstract

The abstract must provide a concise and informative summary of the community service activity and enable readers to understand the problem, objective, method, results, and impact of the activity.

The abstract should contain:

  • The problem or needs of the community or partner;
  • The objective of the activity;
  • The method or approach used;
  • The main results or changes achieved;
  • The conclusion or impact of the activity.

Technical requirements:

  • Length: 90–230 words.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 9 pt.
  • Written in one paragraph.
  • No citations should be included.
  • Avoid uncommon abbreviations.
  • Abstracts must be provided in Indonesian and English.

6. Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords or key phrases representing the main topic of the manuscript. Keywords are separated by semicolons (;).

Example:
community empowerment; digital literacy; Islamic education; community service

Keywords must be provided in Indonesian and English.

7. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized into the following sections:

3. HASIL DAN PEMBAHASAN Minimum 1,800 words

8. Headings and Subheadings

Section numbering uses Arabic numerals and may contain a maximum of three heading levels.

Level 1: Times New Roman 13 pt, Bold, UPPERCASE

Level 2: Times New Roman 10 pt, Bold, Left aligned, After 6 pt

2.1 Community Identification
2.1.1 Participant Identification

9. Pendahuluan

The introduction should clearly explain the background, urgency, and context of the community service activity. Authors must identify actual problems or needs experienced by the community or partner and explain the significance of the proposed intervention.

The introduction should include:

  • Background and context of the community or partner;
  • Identification of the main problem or need;
  • Relevant evidence or supporting data;
  • Previous studies or similar community service activities, preferably at least four relevant works;
  • The gap or distinctive contribution of the activity;
  • The solution or intervention offered;
  • The objectives and expected benefits of the activity.

10. Metode Pelaksanaan

This section explains the procedures and stages of the community service activity. The description should be sufficiently clear to allow readers to understand how the intervention was implemented.

Authors should describe:

  • Location and time of implementation;
  • Characteristics and number of participants or community partners;
  • Initial problems or needs identified;
  • The community service approach or model used;
  • Stages of implementation;
  • Methods, instruments, or techniques used for evaluation;
  • Indicators of program success;
  • Methods used to assess outcomes or changes.

Flowcharts, diagrams, or other visual representations may be included when they improve the clarity of the method.

11. Hasil dan Pembahasan

Results and Discussion should present the main outcomes of the community service activity and provide an analytical interpretation of the results. This section should not merely describe the chronological sequence of activities or reproduce training materials.

The section should address:

  • Implementation and achievement of the program;
  • Achievement of the stated objectives;
  • Changes experienced by participants or community partners;
  • Comparison of conditions before and after the activity, where applicable;
  • Quantitative and/or qualitative indicators of achievement;
  • Tables, figures, graphs, or photographs supporting the findings;
  • Interpretation of findings using relevant literature;
  • Practical benefits and implications for the community;
  • Challenges and limitations of the program;
  • Prospects for sustainability or follow-up activities.
Important: Articles should demonstrate evidence of meaningful outcomes, improvements, or changes resulting from the community service program. Manuscripts that merely report ceremonial or routine activities without adequate evaluation are not prioritized for publication.

12. Tables

  • Tables must be numbered consecutively: Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, and so forth.
  • Table titles must be placed above the table.
  • Table titles should be center aligned.
  • The font used for table titles and contents is Times New Roman 10 pt.
  • Every table must be cited and discussed in the manuscript.
  • Avoid presenting exactly the same data in both table and figure format.

13. Figures and Documentation

  • Figures must be numbered consecutively: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so forth.
  • Figure captions must be placed below the figure.
  • Captions should be center aligned.
  • Caption font: Times New Roman 10 pt.
  • Figures and photographs must be clear and relevant to the manuscript.
  • Every figure must be cited and discussed in the manuscript.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission for identifiable individuals shown in photographs when required.

14. Kesimpulan

The conclusion should directly answer the objectives and problems presented in the manuscript. It should summarize the main outcomes, benefits, limitations, and possibilities for further implementation, replication, or continuation of the community service program.

The conclusion must be written in paragraph form and should not be presented as bullet points.

Minimum length: 200 words.

15. Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements may be included when appropriate to recognize institutions, funding agencies, community partners, local governments, organizations, or individuals who made a significant contribution to the implementation of the activity.

16. Citations and References

Citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) Style, 7th Edition.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, to maintain consistency between in-text citations and the reference list.

  • All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list.
  • All sources included in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.
  • The manuscript should contain at least 10–13 relevant references.
  • Priority should be given to primary scholarly sources.
  • Authors are encouraged to use recent references, particularly publications from the last five years.
  • Journal articles with DOI must include the DOI in URL format whenever available.
  • Reliable journal articles, scholarly books, official reports, and other credible academic sources are preferred.

17. Publication Ethics

Authors must uphold academic integrity and ethical standards in preparing and submitting manuscripts. Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, and manipulation of data are prohibited.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that community service activities involving participants, personal information, or identifiable documentation are conducted responsibly and with appropriate consent when necessary.

18. Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:

☐ The manuscript uses the official ALBISTA template.

☐ Times New Roman is used consistently throughout the manuscript.

☐ The main text uses Times New Roman 10 pt.

☐ The manuscript has not been previously published.

☐ The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.

☐ The title contains no more than 14 words.

☐ Author names and affiliations are complete and accurate.

☐ Indonesian and English abstracts are provided.

☐ Each abstract contains 90–230 words.

☐ Three to five keywords are provided.

☐ The manuscript follows the required article structure.

☐ All tables and figures are numbered and cited in the text.

☐ Citations and references follow APA 7th Edition.

☐ At least 10–13 relevant references are included.

☐ Recent and primary scholarly references are prioritized.

☐ All cited references appear in the reference list.

☐ The manuscript has been carefully proofread.

☐ The journal header, footer, margins, and predefined formatting have not been modified.

Note for Authors

Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to the corresponding author for technical revision before being forwarded to the editorial and peer-review process.
