Abstract

This study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive survey design. The participants were seven students from the Office Administration (OTKP) Department selected through total population sampling. Data were collected using a 20-item questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. The questionnaire covered five indicators: interest and motivation, understanding and idea generation, organization and creativity, confidence in writing, and effectiveness of picture series. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating mean scores. The findings revealed an overall mean score of 3.88, indicating that students had positive perceptions of the use of picture series in writing descriptive texts. The highest mean score was found in the understanding and idea generation indicator (M = 4.11), while the effectiveness of picture series indicator obtained the lowest mean score (M = 3.71), although it remained within the positive category. These findings suggest that picture series help students generate ideas, maintain interest, organize information, and increase confidence during writing activities. Therefore, students perceived picture series as a useful instructional medium for teaching descriptive writing in vocational high schools.
